Ohh Venice… with your canals, pastel coloured buildings, gondolas, wine and pasta. How could i not love you? Every turn was another moment grasping for my camera to capture even the tiniest of details like the gorgeous coloured walls that seem to be everywhere.
So much to see, so little time. So here’s how to make the most of it…
What to do:
Exploring and getting lost is the number one thing to do in Venice. It’s time to drop the map, turn off your data and just allow yourself to wander which will lead you to the most magical of places.
While exploring is definitely the way to see Venice theres a few things i’d recommend just to enhance your trip and to learn about the culture in the city.
In Venice we checked out the two classical venetian crafts that come from nearby islands, Burano and Murano, lace making and glass making. We visited the workshop of some lace makers in Venice, and they explained the incredible amount of work that goes into hand making all the lace that they create which definitely made me appreciate the art a lot more. After seeing the first traditional craft of Venice, we headed to a Murano glass factory where we got to see a glass horse made live in front of us and browse all the gorgeous pieces. It was a great experience seeing these crafts and learning about their history in Venice, and i would definitely suggest you at least stop by the lace makers to listen, learn and maybe even get yourself a piece of gorgeous handmade lace.
Food is always an important aspect of how i perceive and enjoy a place, and you can’t really go wrong in Italy. So find a place to sit down and enjoy some pizza, pasta and bruschetta while people watching for a nice slow afternoon just enjoying being in Venice.
Overall, just get lost and enjoy the beauty thats surrounding you. It won’t be here for much longer.
Until next time Venice, I can’t wait to come back and explore more one day…
