The Plitvice National Park in Croatia is just a 5 hour drive north from Dubrovnik and i say ‘just’ because it’s well worth the visit.
With ticket prices ranging from $11-$36AUD depending on the season, it makes for a reasonably priced day trip full of waterfalls and turquoise lakes. There’s quite a few different routes you can take around the park, but i would suggest just going for it and doing route K which is the longest route and takes about 6-8 hours. The 22km walk requires a decent level of fitness as it gets quite steep about half way through, but overall it’s a great walk and allows you to really discover the park and make the most of it.
I would recommend wearing decent walking shoes for your trip to the park, as you’ll be walking for at least a few hours depending on which route you choose. I went for Nike fly knits and paired them with a simple graphic red and white tee and black denim shorts for comfort and simplicity that still looked great when i wanted photos with the gorgeous turquoise and green i was surrounded by all day. Top it all off with a mini backpack to carry a water bottle or two and some snacks to keep you going and you’re ready to explore this incredible national park.

Now it’s time to let the pictures do the talking because seeing these lakes is what’s really going to make you scrawl for your Europe bucket list and add ‘Plitvice Lakes National Park’ right at the top.
